Abstract: According to a great deal of data from on-the-spot exploration, experiments, tests, the following problems are discussed in this paper: Structure characteristic of rock mass at dam site, elastic wave velocity char-acteristic of rock mass, classification of surrounding rock at dam site and deforination failure characteristic of rock mass, etc. Then, rock mass quality at dam site is evaluated quantitatively, and the mechanics parameters of rock mass with different quality class are suggested.
