Geoengineering is a new growing geology since 1980s and becomes a new discepline ofengineering geology and a new vocation.The fundamental theory of geoenglneering is a theory of geologlcal control,its basic theories are control theory Of geological structure,controltheory of rock mass structure,control theory of soil mass structure, and control theory ofexisting environment factor Of geologlcal they.They controll the evaluation theory andmethod of geological environment,the evaluation theory and methed of rock mass,the theory and methed of engineering geological survey and test,the theory and method Of engineering geologlcal prediction, the theory and technique of geological bedy transform,theanalysis theory and methed of stability of rockrnass and soil mass,and the guide theory ofproject and construction of geoenglneering.It may reduce blindness,increase consciousness,and may decrease 20%--30% of pecuniary loss in the geoengineering practice,by using ocr-rectly this series of geoengineering theories in the geoengineering practice.

From the viewpoint of system engineering,the characteristics of mine rock engineering is re-examined,a concept of the system of mine rock engineering stability is formulated,and the conceptions of geological,design,and construction models are suggested,so that the problems of mine rock engineering stability can be solved with close combination of engineering geology,design,and construction.The dynamic monitoring and informationfeedback,and dynamic process of project construction enable us to get new knowledgw with which we can make new decisions for performance of an engineering project.

Theoretical study and engineering practice have confirmed that the destruction of a geoengineering project usually starts from some particular positions and gradually spreads out.Two principles of given priority to monitoring and to reinforcing breach have been applied to some geo-engineering projects and proved more valuable.Therefore, how to identify the Potential location of breach for one individual geo-engineering becomes one of the most important steps.In this paper we discuss several major means of ascertaining breach based on breach viewpoint. Finally,we'll further illustrate them while considering their application to the shiplock slope engineering of Wuqiangxi Hydroelectric Power Station.

The numerical simulation on the geomechnical process of engineering rock is an effective way to studying and solving the design and construction problems in rock engineering and environment evolution and disaster process. From the authors'research results in the last years,a meta-synthetic system is presented in the paper.The system contains a sub-system of intellectually preparing and determining data of engineering rock for calculation,a sub-system of emulative numerical simulation on the geomechanical process and its rapidly drawing sub-system.The man-computer interface and the automatic transformation of many systems are used in the system,so the whole analysis system has high simulation and drawing functions,convenience,and practicality.

A new type of the yieldable hinged support adaptable to inhomogeneous rock roadways under the influence of mining activities is suggested in this paper.Design principle,structural features,and calculation method for the new support are discussed. Laboratory and industrial experiments were made,and a very good supporting effectiveness of the supports was achieved. The obtained results indicate that the new type of support has such advantages as higher load-carrying capacity,better yieldable performance,higher rate of reuse,and more convenience to set up and retrieve.It can be adjustable to the carried load to fit for the inhomogeneous and varied ground pressure.The new type of support,which has both advantages of hinged supports and yieldable supports,is firstly inhovated at home and abroad.

Anisotropy is one of the most important engineering behaviours of rock mass and rock quality designation.In the paper,through analysing the sensitivity of spacing,dip angle,included angle,and the number of joint sets versus anisotropy of rock quality designation,some anisotropic patterns of rock quality designation are discussed using net simulation of joints. After this,several suggestions about how to using rock quality designation for evaluating stability of rock engineering are proposed in the light of it's application to engineering rock mass.

The mechanical and physico-chemical properties of soft and week rock in Longkou cool bine,Shandong are discussed from the test results,and the relationships between mechanical properties and physico-chemical properties of argillaceous rock.Experiment results show that the argillaceeous rock has rather low mchanical strength and deformation.

Dating of fault is one of the important contents of studying the fault activity. However,different dating results are usually given for the same fault in some engineering site areas,it leads to dispute and can't make correct assessment of the fault activity.After our studying the regional stability of several large-scale engineering projects in last years,we have got some knowledge of the problem of fault activity evaluation.This paper presents some advances in study on fault dating,with an emphasis on the example of fault activity studied in Jiudianxia dam area on Taohe River,Gansu province.The main procedure of the study just is the integration of the isotopic dating,field geological investigation,and hacrostructure analysis.The research results of the faults in this paper will be valuable for the fault activity assessment and the key points to the fault dating by the methods.

There exist many geological hazards and geo-environmental problems in the new urban site area of Badong in the reservoir area of Three gorge project.On the basis of investigation of geological background,in which ancient landslide is the most sensitive to slope failure.The stability of Huangtupo ancient landslide,Zhaoshuling ancient landslide etc.was studied in detail in consideration of the combining effect of reservoir impounding,rainfall, and man-induced infiltration.The river bank erosion was estimated on a schematic model and from the parameters obtained in the in-situ investigation.
