Abstract: Regional stability engineering geology was established,developedand matured in China.After its establishment in 1950s,now its systematic theory and systematic studying methods were formulated,and so it becomes a new subject that plays an important role in construction of national economy.This review on the process of its establishment and development brings about a great advance in its method of thinking and theory,and also brings about a great important significance in further to a large extent development of its theory and practice.
