    ON GEOLOGICAL ENGINEERING CHARACTERISTICS OF FAULT ROCKS

    • 摘要: 断层岩是原岩经过动力变质作用(断裂作用)形成的一类特殊岩石,具有带状分布、宽度有限、空间分布不稳定、呈碎裂结构或散体结构、受外动力地质作用影响显著等特征。数量虽少,分布极广,且控制断层的工程地质性质,而断层泥是断层岩中工程地质性质最差者。断层岩的研究是工程地质学中的一个重要的基础理论研究课题。

       

      Abstract: Fault rocks are a special kind of rocks which are formed from original rocks under the dynamic metamorphism (fracture action). They have dramatic characteristics such as belt distribution, limited width, unsteady spatial distribution, cataclastic or scattered structure, and notable effect induced by the exogenic dynamic geological processes etc. The quantity of these rocks is less, but their distribution is broad. The engineering geological properties of these faults are controlled by the fault rocks. Fault gouges have the worst engineering geology properties among fault rocks .The study of fault rocks is an important topics in basic theories of engineering geology.
