ON GEOLOGICAL ENGINEERING CHARACTERISTICS OF FAULT ROCKS

    • Fault rocks are a special kind of rocks which are formed from original rocks under the dynamic metamorphism (fracture action). They have dramatic characteristics such as belt distribution, limited width, unsteady spatial distribution, cataclastic or scattered structure, and notable effect induced by the exogenic dynamic geological processes etc. The quantity of these rocks is less, but their distribution is broad. The engineering geological properties of these faults are controlled by the fault rocks. Fault gouges have the worst engineering geology properties among fault rocks .The study of fault rocks is an important topics in basic theories of engineering geology.
