    • In this paper, the characteristics of geological and geotechnical engineering monitoring and the shortcomings of conventional monitoring technologies and methods are analyzed, and the connotation of distributed monitoring is defined, the types of fiber optical sensing (FOS) monitoring technologies are introduced, and especially the performance, type and domestic and international progress of distributed FOS technologies are presented, and finally the key technical issues for further research and development are proposed.
