MEASURING SHRINKAGE CHARACTERISTIC OF EXPANSIVE SOIL WITH MICROMETER

    • Free shrinkage ratio of Mengzi expansive soil is measured under different water content and dry density with micrometer. Shrinkage characteristic of expansive soil has no direct connection with dry density. The larger the water content of the sample, the stronger the anisotropy. The higher water content of the sample, the greater the shrinkage . The quantitative relationship between water content and linear shrinkage ratio is gained under different dry density for Mengzi expansive soil, which has great value to engineering practice.
