ENVIRONMENT-ENGINEERING GEOLOGY PROBLEM OF THE HYDROPOWER STATIONS IN THE AREA OF THE THREE RIVERS JUXTAPOSITION

    • Being located in the suture band of the Eurasian plate and the India plate, the modern structure stress is very strong in the area of the three river juxtaposition. The area is one of the most intense region of land upraising since Quaternary period, and it is also the one of the most growth region of geological hazard. The Nujiang gorge, the Lancang gorge and the Jinshajiang gorge are the centralizing growth areas of geological hazard in all the area of the three river juxtaposition. The hydropower stations that have been planed at the three rivers will be faced with the environment- engineering geology problems that include the modern structure stress, the stress from high slope, collapses, landslides, mud-rock flows, reservoir depositing, inducing earthquake etc. It is the premise of construction of the hydropower stations that these environment-engineering geology problems must be solved.
