    PRELIMINARY STUDY ON BEHAVIOR OF MODEL PILE FOUNDATIONS IN SAND USING SHAKING TABLE

    • This paper presents the results of preliminary experiments related to behavior of model pile foundations, including pile group and piled raft, in a sand under seismic loading using a shaking table. The preliminary experiments consisted of shaking table tests on the model ground alone, and the pile. groups and the piled rafts installed in the model ground. Triaxial testing of the sand was also carried out. The test results suggest that the shaking table test is applicable to investigate the behavior of pile foundations under seismic loading, if an appropriate similitude rule is employed to interpret the shaking table test results.
