PRELIMMINARY EXPERIMENT STUDY OF SLOPE PROTECTION MECHANISM USE VITIVER

    • Slope protection with ecology and plants has become an important field in methods and techniques of protecting and stabilizing slopes. Vitiver is a kind of easilily rooted and rapidly grown gramineous grasses, which has the powerful root's system and the first-class capability to protect and stabilize slopes. Experiments have shown that not only vitiver's root system has the relatively high tensile strength, but also the strength linearly increases or decreases when the number of its roots (density of root distribution) ecomes ;But the strength will sightly decrease with the increasingly long roots . Physical and mechanical properities of sandy clay evenly mixed with vitiver's root system obviously become, that is to say, the soil's unit weight reduces and its shear strength has an visible increase. This fact proves that slope's stability being improved is inevitable when there exists vitiver in the slope.
