APPLICATION OF RAYLEIGH WAVE DETECTION IN NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING FOR ENGINEERING

    • The key technique to pick out the stable and reliable dispersion curve from Rayleigh waves of all frequencies, especially of high frequencies, is correct analysis of phase differences between waves with different frequencies on two measuring points. In this paper, the Rayleigh waves with different frequencies are applied into the detecting investigation of the treatment quality of the ground treated by dynamic consolidation for a large-scale project, the influence of culvert propulsion across a highway on the road foundation and the weathering degrees of a white marble fence plate in Forbidden City in Beijing. The application feasibility of Rayleigh waves in the detecting of engineering bodies with different sizes and relative methods for the stimulation, observation and explanation of the waves are tested so that a methodological series of the detecting by Rayleigh wave with low to high frequencies is formed. This offers a foundation for the application of Rayleigh waves in the nondestructive testing of various projects.
