    VRGIS AND ITS APPLICATION TO XIANGJIABA HYDROPOWER STATION

    • Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station is a representative project in Jinsha River area. As the geological structure is greatly complicated and the amount of exploring data is extremely immense, it is difficult for the geologists to clearly explain the whole information of the exploring data and to directly hold the distributing rule of the rock and soil in engineering. In order to answer the call for constructing gigantic hydropower stations, the authors have set up the VRGIS of VII dam site of Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station with the VR technique and 3D modeling technique. Flying interactively or automatically in the 3D virtual environment, the operator can directly and conveniently obtain the information of three-dimensional geological models, such as strata, faults, water level, etc.. In this way, the manager can grasp the geological structure on the dam site, improve the correctness of analysis, and make a strategic and proper decision. The application of VRGIS to the Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station shows that it has a flourish prospect.
