ENGINEERING GEOLOGY AND FOUNDATION DESIGN FOR THE GREAT WALL STATION IN THE SOUTH POLE

    • he previous buildings in the Great Wall Station in the South Pole turned up some foundational morbidity, since they were under the extremely bad climate and construction conditions meanwhile. In order to satisfy the design and construction for the Great Wall and the Zhongshan Stations during the tenth-five-year-plan, the author had been to the South Pole together with the 21th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition, and carried out a great deal of study about the frozen soil investigating and the building compatibility splitting. The paper introduced the engineering geological conditions, the subterraneous temperature field and already genetic foundational morbidity, eventually expounded some pointed measures.
