INTRODUCING A GLOBAL HAZARD SYSTEM(GHS)IN GEO-HAZARDS MONITORING AND EARLY WARNING

    • Floods and landslides account for the two major geo-hazards. A Global Hazard System(GHS)is introduced together with some application in early warning the two geo-hazards.Based on integrating remote sensing tools in prediction of floods and landslides,a prototype GHS that incorporates satellite-based near real-time rainfall flux into a hydrological model and landslide model is developed by NASA TRMM research group.Case studies in Honduras,Indonesia, and China show the prediction ability of GHS in regional scale, and results show that landslides could be predicted temporally and spatially.Extending application in Fujian Province also will be implemented in the future.
