BIOLOGICAL EFFECTS ON ENGINEERING GEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF SEABED SEDIMENTS

    • The near-shore and estuarine environments, which are commonly dominated by benthic species, are important factors in changing the sedimentary conditions. This paper presents effects of estuarine species on sediment geological properties including morphologic, penetration strength and grain size of sediments in Diaokou area around the delta of the Yellow River. The relationships among biological effects, the formation of depression, strength heterogeneity of sediment and distribution of mud are also discussed.
