    NONLINEAR MODEL EVALUATION OF FAILURE MECHANISM OF A FLEXIBLE ABUTMENT REINFORCED BY GEOTEXTILES

    • This paper analyzed mechanical behavior and failure mechanism of a flexible abutment reinforced by geotextiles by using finite element method in consideration of consolidation and non-linear constitutive relation of soil.The reinforced soil was simulated as a three-layer material consisting of soil,geotextile,and interface between them.The results indicated that the reinforcement could reduce its uniform settlement by 50% and differential settlement by 66%.It,could also improve the embankments stability.
