SLOPE STABILITY OF A MAIN TOWER FOUNDATION OF THE SEA-CROSSING BRIDGE

    • The main tower of a sea-crossing rope suspension bridge with a 1,650 meter span lies on an island. The thin mountain intersected by faults and other structural fissures result in low intactness of rock mass. Based on field geological investigations, the authors made a systematic analysis of the structure load and wind load and the slope stability. Results show that the slope is stable as a whole, but some unstable rock masses exist near the surface. To enhance stability of near surface rock masses, reinforcement measures are recommended.
