GROWING TREND OF ENGINEERING GEOLOGY: THE 21ST CENTURY, CHINAS ACTUAL CONDITIONS AND SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT

    • On the basis of comprehensive analyses of development trends of science and technology, economy, and society at the early 21th century, on the basis of demands of infrastructure construction in Chinas moderizing, on the basis of the orientation of integrating environmental safity and economic benifits in engineering construction, and on the basis of the double attribute that engineering geology is between natural sciences and humanities, the study and development of engineering geology in the future should be to take the mutual feeding process of engineering construction and geological environment as the center of study for achieving a coordinate development and strengthen the close combination of engineering geological theories, geological techniques and engineering construction for improving the service of engineering geology in engineering construction. The productive force distribution, the total development trend, key points and the basic framework of science and technology on three levels served by engineering geology and environment science are also approached in this paper. Scientific and technical difficult problems that need to solve in current engineering construction are preliminarily analyzed.
