    RESEARCH ON MULTIPLE MODELS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF WATER RESOURCES IN THE ARID-SEMIARID ZONES OF WEST CHINA

    • The strategic decision of large scale economic development in West China has been made by our government recently. There are so many zones deficient in water in the West China. So the first main task for the development in the West China is to search for water resources. A systematic achievement in searching for groundwater and evaluation of water resources have been obtained in Nanjing University. By using neotectonic theory and preferred plane theory, we have developed multiple models for development of water resources which are short in the mountain areas of the region. These models have been successfully used in Shunping County of Hebei Province. We consider that these models will be greatly helpful in solving problem of water shortage in the West China and have practical significance for the economic development.
