INTRODUCTION AND ANALYSIS OF NSFC PROJECTS OF ENGINEERING GEOLOGY IN 2018

    • The NSFC proposals and grants of engineering geology in 2018 were analyzed. The number of proposals declined, mainly due to the decline in the number of applications for Young Scientists Fund and Major Program. The number of applications for Key Program and General Program remained stable, and the number of applications for Excellent Young Scientists Fund increased significantly in this year. The peer-review referees well handled the peer-review scale on the proposals. The age structure of applicants for General Program tends to be younger, and that for the Youth Scientists Fund is reasonable. Applicants for Key Program are still dominated by scientists born in the 1960s, while the number of scientists born in the 1970s is increasing and gradually being funded. The applicants of engineering geology has been funded in several different project types, showing increasing competitiveness.
