    EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON STRENGTHS OF SH-FIXES SAND AND LOESS

    • SH do we make a new solidified material. In this paper, the experimental study on SH-fixated sand of Tengger Desert and loess in Lanzhou has been made. The affecting factors have been preliminarily studied, also. It is concluded that SH is fit for their solidification because their strengths after solidification are markedly improved, though differences between loess and sand are existed in cause of formation, composition and structure. The strengths are affected by SH contents, dry density and age. SH-fixated sand is mainly caused by physical action, but loess solidification with SH is more complex for loess is made by kinds of materials. The references of sand and loess fixated with SH may be useful for providing a basis in the field test and extending its application in a large scale in the future.
