THREE ISSUES IN USING STATICALLY-JACKED PILES FOR FOUNDATIONS IN SHANGHAI SOFT SOILS

The checking computation of pile structural strength of statically jacked pile during its installation is not explicitly established in the codes of pile foundation design.In this paper the following issues are discussed:(1) the relationship between the sinking-pile resistance and the pile tip depth in the bearing layer;(2) the estimation of sinking-pile resistance from the specific penetration resistance of static penetration test;(3) the checking computation of pile structural strength of static-press pile in the process of installation.
