Hard clay is a kind of medium between soft rock and hard soil. It contains regularly distributed cracks and has obvious anisotropic behaviours. In this paper, a damage mechanical model suitable to the cracked hard clay is presented for on engineering application. This model was used for numerical simulation of canal slope engineering in Nanyang basin. .
