Abstract

The significance of earthquake magnitude division in the nuclear safety guide rule is discussed with emphasis on the role of determining macroearthquakes in the seismic siting of nuclear power plants. Finally, the author suggests a new starting magnitude of macroearthquakes in connection with Chinese seismological and geological Conditions.
